‘You have to take it’ – Guardiola furious at Haaland after Gundogan penalty miss

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City was very angry when Erling Haaland allowed Ilkay Gundogan to take a penalty against Leeds on Saturday, but the German midfielder failed to score.

During the first half, Gundogan scored twice for City to give them a comfortable lead at Etihad Stadium.

Later, when City won a penalty with only six minutes remaining in the game, Gundogan, who used to play for Borussia Dortmund, took the shot. Unfortunately, the ball hit the post, and on the sidelines, Guardiola was visibly upset.

Guardiola could be seen silently mouthing to Haaland that he should have taken the penalty, and moments later, things got worse for City as Leeds scored a goal through Rodrigo, setting up a tense finale.

After the incident, Guardiola substituted Gundogan, and did not even look at him as he left the field. Guardiola is well known for his meticulous approach to coaching, and with City fighting with Arsenal for the Premier League title, he was clearly not happy that his players let emotions cloud their judgment.

In the end, City managed to win 2-1, but Guardiola will likely speak to his players after the match to ensure that such incidents do not happen again, as it could have cost his team two crucial points.
