‘Would finish 8th’ – Manchester United fans react to presented 2022-23 starting lineup
Manchester United are approaching an unpredictable time in which no one knows what will happen next.
The hunt for the club’s next permanent manager is nearing completion, although speculation over the futures of many of the squad members ahead of the new season has begun.
There’s a new man in the dugout, and he’s got new ideas.
Erik ten Hag is United’s favorite manager candidate according to The MEN Sport, but how would his United team look?
That is the question on many fans’ lips, and it has sparked a lot of controversies online.
On Twitter, Manchester Evening News’ Dom Booth proposed a possible starting lineup on Thursday: “A completely hypothetical United XI for next season; Henderson; Dalot, Akanji, Varane, Telles; Ndidi, Fred; Elanga, Van de Beek, Sancho; [Moussa] Dembele. Quite exciting and not very expensive, thoughts?”
United supporters were not allowed to vote. In terms of the squad’s strength in comparison to United’s opponents, the supporters’ responses were unequivocal:
I’d suggest that team would finish 8th.

That’s a bang average team that will struggle to make top four.

Donney van de Beek was mentioned as a possible starter after impressing fans while warming the bench at Old Trafford.
However, there are reports that mood has shifted following the Dutchman’s troubles on loan at Everton.
Others questioned Alex Telles’ quality at left-back, who has been dubious defensively in recent weeks against the likes of Atletico Madrid and Manchester City while giving little going forward.
Henderson’s pick in goal over David de Gea also aroused eyebrows.
The anticipated possible transfers were also criticized. Manuel Akanji, Wilfred Ndidi, and Moussa Dembele have all been linked with United in the past, although opinion on their merits has been divided.
Not sure how Ndidi’s performing at the moment, but must be an upgrade on McTominay defensively. Think there’s a lack of passing ability, though, especially through midfield.

Ndidi won’t happen and dembele isn’t good enough as a starter maybe as a bench option I would say tchouameni and Nunez would be better
