Worrying: The 9 sanctions Manchester City could be slapped with after Premier League charge them
After being found guilty of violating more than a hundred financial regulations, Manchester City could face sanctions such as expulsion and massive fines.
A commission will investigate the alleged violations and determine whether the reigning Premier League champions are guilty of an unprecedented level of rule-breaking.
The alleged violation dates back to the 2009/10 season, and after four years of investigation by the league, confirmations of the charges against the Abu Dhabi-owned club have been delivered.
The independent commission will review the alleged violations and have the authority to impose multiple sanctions, with expulsion from the league being the most severe.
What could happen to Manchester City?
The club could also be barred from playing league matches for a specified period of time and have points deducted following the final decision.
Several potential financial penalties with repercussions in the tens of millions could be imposed.

The independent commission can also recommend to the board that league matches be replayed and can order compensation, including ordering clubs to pay costs, if they deem it appropriate.
Regarding players, Manchester City may also experience cancellations or refusals to register players.
The club could also be subject to conditional punishment, as the Independent Commission could issue whatever other directives it deems appropriate.
Uncertainty exists as to whether titles can be removed retroactively. The Premier League has stated that it will refrain from further comment until the process is complete, while Manchester City has issued a brief statement stating that they are “surprised by the issuance of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided.”
The Premier League will appoint an impartial judicial panel to examine the case and render the final verdict. According to the BBC, Murray Rosen KC will select and preside over the panel.
