World Cup teenager confesses he wants to ‘smash’ Bukayo Saka, three years since Arsenal departure
Yunus Musah will play England next month and hopes to meet Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka at the World Cup.
Saka has become the Hale End academy’s poster kid, rising through the ranks to become a first-team regular.
Others, like as Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe, have emerged, but Saka will be held up as a model for all Gunners youth.
Some, like Musah, will not make the Arsenal first squad and will have to look for first-team opportunities elsewhere.
Musah, 19, spent seven years at Arsenal before leaving at the age of 16.
Musah appeared to believe that the first-team road at Arsenal was not available to him, therefore he left for Spain.
The midfielder joined Valencia in 2019, but has been a first-team regular since the start of the 2020-21 season.
Musah was born in the United States to Ghanaian parents and later became a citizen of Italy and England, but he chose to play for the United States.
Musan now has 19 caps for the United States and is projected to be an important player for Gregg Berhalter at the World Cup in Qatar.
Because England and the United States are in the same group, Musah may face some Three Lions he knows.
Musah has now informed ESPN that he knows Arsenal’s Saka and Jude Bellingham and that he wants to ‘smash’ both of them.
The teenager said that it is a matter of pride for him and that he wants to prove Saka and Bellingham, two of the most exciting prospects in English football, that he can compete with them.
“I know some people from the team, [Bukayo] Saka and [Jude] Bellingham, so I am going to have to go toe-to-toe with them in that match and smash them, really, because it’s pride, you know!” said Musah.
“I told some of my friends back home as well that if we win that match, they have to celebrate, in the English pubs and everything they have to celebrate, that would be nice,” he added.
Musah, like Saka, appears to be a big talent, and if he shines at the World Cup, perhaps the door will be open for a return to Arsenal one day when Edu looks for new players.
