According to CBS Reporter Ben Jacobs, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly hopes to complete a deal for Leeds United striker Raphinha within the next 24 to 48 hours.

The Blues are thought to have negotiated a fee with their Premier League rivals for the Brazilian, but a late move from Barcelona has thrown a wrench in the works.

The Telegraph reported on Tuesday that Chelsea had reached a £55 million agreement with Leeds to sign Raphinha this transfer season.

However, it has since surfaced that Barcelona is attempting an 11th-hour hijacking in order to bring the 25-year-old to the Camp Nou.

Raphinha is a long-term target for Barcelona, according to Fabrizio Romano’s recent CaughtOffside blog, with the La Liga club having an agreement on personal matters since last March.

Their financial predicament, though, made a transaction appear nearly unattainable at one point.

However, they do not appear to have given up and appear to be firmly back in the fight for the player’s signature.

Jacobs has informed GIVEMESPORT that if Chelsea can reach an agreement with Raphinha within the next 48 hours, he should end up at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues gatecrashed Arsenal’s proposal for the winger earlier this week.

Speaking to GMS, the CBS Reporter said: “It’s a very, very fluid situation, and we should learn more within the next 24 hours because if Chelsea don’t strike an agreement quickly, then every day that passes, it becomes more likely that Barcelona is Raphinha’s next destination.

“Chelsea are hoping that before Barcelona can get their finances in order, they get a quick deal, and that’s why Todd Boehly’s role is so key, because he is negotiating in a proactive and direct way. And if in the next 24 to 48 hours he can get Raphinha to agree to a move in terms of the financials, then Chelsea’s feeling is that that deal will get done and Barcelona will have to back off.”

If Barcelona is able to complete a deal for Raphinha, it is possible that Ousmane Dembele would leave the club due to the club’s financial situation.

They have yet to meet the player’s contract demands since he is currently a free agent.

Dean Jones, a transfer insider, told GMS earlier this month that the Frenchman is a footballer manager Thomas Tuchel “loves” and that he may see him landing at Stamford Bridge before the transfer season ends.
