Why Sporting players got angry with Oleksandr Zinchenko during Arsenal clash
In their Europa League match against Sporting CP, Arsenal went ahead in the 22nd minute thanks to a goal from defender William Saliba. The French player scored with a header from a corner kick, which was delivered by Fabio Vieira.
However, the celebrations were cut short when a scuffle broke out between Sporting players and Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.
During the corner kick, Zinchenko was seen holding onto a Sporting player before both players fell to the ground. Sporting believed that this should have resulted in the goal being disallowed, but the goal stood.
Zinchenko and Sporting defender Sebastian Coates were both shown yellow cards after the incident, and Coates will now be suspended for the next game between the two teams in London.
After 12 minutes of Arsenal taking the lead, the home team managed to score an equalizer from a corner kick of their own. Jakub Kiwior, who joined the team in January, seemed to duck while goalkeeper Matt Turner decided not to go for the ball, allowing Goncalo Inacio to score the goal.
As the match progresses into the second half, Arsenal will be hoping to gain control of the game, with players like Emile Smith Rowe, Thomas Partey, and Takehiro Tomiyasu available on the bench. The second leg of the match will take place at the Emirates Stadium next Thursday.
