Why Erling Haaland yelled at Julian Alvarez seconds after Forest kick-off

Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, and Joao Cancelo scored goals for Manchester City in their 6-0 rout of Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium, as the club’s blazing start to the season continued.

Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, two of the most promising young strikers in the world, were signed by Manchester City, but Haaland is the key man.

Haaland scored his second hat-trick in as many outings, and Alvarez scored twice, as the reigning champions defeated Nottingham Forest 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

It was the first time both strikers had begun a game together, with Haaland in the middle and Alvarez on the right, and it took the former Dortmund player only a few seconds to show his authority over his Argentine teammate.

Alvarez, who spent the previous two seasons playing center for River Plate, began drifting infield as soon as the game began, sparking Haaland’s aggressive response.

The Norwegian yelled at Alvarez, commanding him to return to the touchline like a silverback gorilla pounding his fists and yelling at a weaker male.

Haaland has scored nine goals in the Premier League this season, four more than Fulham’s Alexander Mitrovic, who has scored five goals.

Alvarez, meanwhile, has scored three goals in all competitions this season, despite making four of his five City appearances off the bench.

City’s victory leaves them two points behind league leaders Arsenal, whose win over Aston Villa  maintained their perfect record, and two points clear of third-placed Tottenham, who drew with West Ham.
