Why Cristiano Ronaldo will miss the first day of Man United pre-season amid exit speculation
Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Manchester United’s pre-season training session today owing to “family commitments.”
On Monday, United’s international players will return to Carrington.
Over the weekend, The Athletic reported that Ronaldo, 37, would desire to depart if the club receives a reasonable offer this year.
Todd Boehly, a co-owner of Chelsea, met with Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes to discuss his status and the possibility of him joining Chelsea.
Bayern Munich is also said to be aware of his predicament, and Napoli is said to be interested.
PSG is not currently among the clubs interested in signing Ronaldo during this transfer window.
Ronaldo is not expected to be sold this summer, according to Manchester United.
Ronaldo, 37, has a year left on the contract he signed when he returned to United from Juventus last summer.
Last season, he finished as United’s top scorer with 24 goals in all competitions, although he was unable to help the club qualify for the Champions League.
A lack of Champions League action this season, as well as a desire to compete for titles, are said to be factors in his decision to leave.
Tyrell Malacia of Feyenoord, on the other hand, is at Carrington.
The 22-year-old is finishing the second stage of his medical in preparation for a £13 million transfer.
