What Erik ten Hag told Leeds manager after Man United’s win at Elland Road
After Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Leeds at Elland Road in the Premier League, the Red Devils’ manager, Erik ten Hag, had a conversation with Leeds interim manager Michael Skubala.
The game was closely contested until two late goals from Manchester United secured the victory.
Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho both scored after Ten Hag made a tactical change, but Leeds provided a tough challenge for the in-form United side.
Manchester United only managed to open the scoring in the 80th minute and Leeds had several chances to score throughout the match, with Crysencio Summerville having the best opportunity early on.
Just five days earlier, Leeds held United to a draw at Old Trafford and even took a 2-0 lead in that game due to some poor defending from the Red Devils.
Despite not being able to replicate their strong performance from the previous encounter, Ten Hag praised Leeds and complimented the management team for their setup.
“I think it’s a personal conversation that one,” the Leeds caretaker told the press when asked about his conversation with the United boss. “But he was really complimentary about how the team was set up and how we played it. He said it was a tough game, things like that. Yeah, it’s really nice to see how complimentary he was about our structure and our tactics.
“They’re a good team. I think he’s done a great job, Erik ten Hag, getting that team playing and like you say, getting them fighting and being competitive at the same time. But I thought we matched that in every account.
“I thought we matched the quality. I thought we matched in competitiveness. I thought we matched it tactically and structurally as well for 80 minutes of the game.”
