‘We don’t want to see him anymore!’ – Frank Leboeuf rips into Chelsea summer signing

Frank Leboeuf, a former Chelsea defender, has criticized the club’s signing of Marc Cucurella, believing he has no place in the starting lineup.

The Spanish left-back arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer in a deal that could reach £62 million.

However, he has struggled to live up to his price tag, and Chelsea’s inconsistent play has not helped his form.

Due to injuries at the back and the absence of Ben Chilwell, Cucurella has played a significant amount of minutes this season; in fact, only three players have played more minutes.

He has been used as a left centre-back in a back three, a left-back in a back four, and a left wing-back, but despite the return of his former manager Graham Potter, he has not been able to replicate his form from Brighton.

Kenny Tete’s constant marauding runs down his flank accentuated his lackluster performance against Fulham on Friday night.

Now, the former Chelsea defender Leboeuf claims he has seen enough of the 24-year-old and that he is not good enough, as well as criticizing the club’s decision to spend so much money on him in the summer.

Speaking to ESPN, the Frenchman said: “Reece James and Chilwell are going to go back into fitness asap because we need them, because we don’t want to see Cucurella anymore.

“With all due respect for the man – that I don’t know – but the player is not good enough for Chelsea. It’s as simple as that.

“It’s crazy that they signed him for £60m or £70m, but we can see that he does not belong to that level.”

This is not the first time that Leboeuf has criticized Cucurella. He made similar comments last year. : “People are going to think I don’t like him (Cucurella), it’s not the case.

“It’s just I think Cucurella played for Getafe and Brighton, and £65million for a player who’s 24, played like 30 or 40 games in the Premier League, I think it’s a lot. I think the world of football is getting crazy.”

Chilwell is recovering from a hamstring injury and was a late substitute against Fulham; the England international is expected to be gradually reintegrated into the team over the next few weeks.
