“We don’t want Manchester United” – Manager makes it clear he wants to avoid Red Devils Europa League tie

‘Cristiano Ronaldo could return to Sporting’ is a headline seen in Portugal today, but it does not mean the player will return to the Lions.

They’re speculating that he and  Manchester United  could face the Lisbon club in the Europa League.

Following the conclusion of the Champions League group stage, we now know which clubs will compete in Europe’s second tier, and it turns out the tournament could be quite interesting, with many big sides involved.

So, when Sporting manager Ruben Amorim spoke to the media in Lisbon , he mentioned Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo, and he’s hoping that the Lions don’t have to face the Red Devils in the next round.

“We don’t want Manchester United, but if we have to come, Ronaldo stays on the bench, so he doesn’t score goals,” said Ruben Amorim (via Radio Renascença).

The Europa League play-off draw will take place on Monday. PSV, Rennes, Roma, Union Berlin, Manchester United, Midtjylland, Nantes, and Monaco are in the first round.

The second group includes Ajax, Bayer Leverkusen, Barcelona, Sporting, RB Salzburg, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sevilla, and Juventus, as well as clubs from the Champions League.
