Video: Richarlison burst into tears after scoring a brace on his Champions League debut
Richarlison was overcome with emotion as he celebrated his Champions League debut with friends and family at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, fighting back tears after inspiring Antonio Conte’s side to a crucial victory.
In Wednesday night’s group stage match, the Brazilian scored his first goals for the London club, netting two late headers to help Tottenham upset Marseille 2-0.
It was a fantastic night for the Brazilian striker, who joined Tottenham from Everton this summer for a record $57.5 million fee.
In his debut appearance in the UEFA Champions League, the 25-year-old forward sparkled in the attack alongside Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, and was able to complete the night with the perfect performance to add to Spurs’ great start to the season.
The hosts had to wait until 14 minutes before full time to break the deadlock against Marseille, but it was well earned given how hard they had probed and pressed for a goal all night.
Richarlison put them ahead with a header, and five minutes later, the Brazilian international made it two for the night by netting Spurs’ second to earn the three points.
Following the game’s conclusion, the night’s Man of the Match rushed out.
Following the game, the night’s Man of the Match rushed over to a section of the audience and was greeted by family members who shook his hand and hugged him.
However, he was unable to control his feelings and burst into tears before hiding his face with his hand and matching shirt.
