Verbal agreement in place for Chelsea to conclude the transfer of highly-rated 18-year-old ace
Chelsea have apparently had a verbal agreement in place for some time now over the probable acquisition of highly-rated 18-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina.
According to Italian transfer news specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Blues were close to signing the youngster from Chicago Fire in January, and the MLS side are still waiting to see if a deal can be completed this summer, though it has been suggested that it may fall through due to Petr Cech’s recent departure from his role at Stamford Bridge.

See below for further information from Romano, who claims Chelsea previously agreed to sign Slonina for roughly €10 million…

Slonina was already really close to Chelsea in January.
Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper is now Edouard Mendy, with Kepa Arrizabalaga serving as a capable backup.
Still, it might be smart business to sign a potential like Slonina on the cheap if the opportunity arises, but it’s unlikely to be a top priority for incoming owner Todd Boehly.
After the losses of key players such as Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Rudiger, and Andreas Christensen, Thomas Tuchel’s club is in desperate need of fresh defenders and attacking players this summer.
