Van Dijk, Firmino, Jota: full Liverpool injury list and possible return matches
Liverpool will be facing Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday.
The Reds are the current holders of the competition, having defeated Chelsea on penalties in the final last season.
With their stuttering form in the Premier League, and their elimination from the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup may be their best chance of winning silverware this season.
However, they will need to improve on their performance from two weeks ago when they were defeated 3-0 by Brighton on the south coast.
Jurgen Klopp may choose to field a strong side, with the latest injury news for the Reds in mind.
Virgil van Dijk, the centre-back, suffered a hamstring injury at the beginning of the month during the loss against Brentford. Van Dijk was withdrawn at half-time and the injury is expected to keep him out for a few weeks.
Potential return game: Everton (H), Monday 13 February or Newcastle (A), Saturday 18 February.
Roberto Firmino, the striker, has not played since the restart of the World Cup due to a calf injury. He suffered a setback in his recovery and is not close to returning to team training.
Potential return game – N/A
Diogo Jota, the Portugal international, continues to rehab from his devastating injury in October. Klopp has stated that while Jota looks good, it will be a few more weeks before he can return.
Potential return game: Real Madrid (H), Tuesday 21 February
Luis Diaz, the winger, suffered a setback in his recovery during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai. He is expected to be unavailable until at least March.
Potential return game: N/A
Arthur Melo, the on-loan Juventus midfielder, has played very little for Liverpool and is expected to be available in the next few weeks.
For Brighton, they will be looking to build on their recent victory against Liverpool and continue their progress in the competition. They will also be without few players due to injury, illness and suspension.
