United’s dream midfield target agrees £92k a week deal with Euro rivals

Manchester United  appears unlikely to acquire Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The 20-time English champions have been linked with the Serbian for a number of years, but the transfer has never materialized.

Constant rumors about him and United have been largely attributed to his agency.

However, Milinkovic- Savic’s  status as a United target is rarely out of the news.

Nonetheless, according to Tuttosport, the Lazio midfielder’s odyssey with the Red Devils could come to an end with a significant development.

Tuttosport reports that the 27-year-old could be headed to Turin in preparation for a probable transfer to Juventus.

“Sergej Milinković-Savić has reached an agreement with Juventus on salary.

“An agreement with the Serbian and his agent Kezman on the salary [reached] €5.5 million plus 1.5 in bonuses, still valid for next summer.

“Juventus must now reach an agreement over a fee with Lazio.”

It is expected that Juventus will have to pay a substantial sum of money to get Milinkovic-Savic’s services.

At times, Lazio club executives’ absurdly exorbitant expectations for the player have been cited as the reason why no elite club has ever pursued him aggressively.

The Serbian international is under contract with the Biancocelesti until 2024, giving Lazio tremendous negotiating leverage.

Since his arrival in 2015, Milinkovic-Savic has established himself as one of Lazio’s most significant players.

The midfielder has produced three goals and seven assists in 14 Serie A appearances this season. His future will likely become clearer following the conclusion of the World Cup, where he is currently competing with his national side.

It will be intriguing to watch if United pursues him or allows Juventus to acquire him unopposed.
