UEFA announces Tottenham Hotspur’s 25 players Champions League roster

Antonio Conte’s 25-man team for the Champions League appears to have been announced as Tottenham Hotspur prepare for their first Champions League match of the season.

Spurs are once again competing in Europe’s premier club competition after placing fourth in the Premier League last season.

On Wednesday, the North London club will welcome French side Marseille in a difficult matchup.

Similarly to Spurs, the Ligue 1 club is unblemished through their first six games in France.

UEFA regulations stipulate that Spurs must have a minimum of two goalkeepers and eight homegrown players in their roster for the coveted competition, making squad selection somewhat difficult.

Conte’s team has been unveiled on the official l UEFA Champions League website, and while formal confirmation is still coming, it gives us a clear sense of who could be competing this year.

All new Spurs players make the squad, along with a number of young players and a few familiar faces. Here is the entire team:

Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris, Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin

Defenders: Matt Doherty, Davinson Sanchez, Emerson Royal, Eric Dier, Cristian Romero, Ryan Sessegnon, Djed Spence, Japhet Tanganga, Ben Davies, Clement Lenglet, Ivan Perisic

Midfielders: Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Pape Matar Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma

Forwards: Richarlison, Harry Kane, Bryan Gil, Lucas Moura, Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son

Homegrown talent like Brandon Austin, Japhet Tanganga, and Oliver Skipp make the squad, while youngsters Bryan Gil and Pape Matar Sarr are also included after the club decided against loaning them out this summer.

Final confirmation of the squad is still to come though, as there are only seven homegrown players involved currently. This means Conte will either have to drop a player from the squad, or replace someone with a locally trained player.
