Two Prem clubs want Arsenal frontman who’s putting Messi, Mbappe to shame, as Fabrizio Romano hints at Arteta decision

Two Prem clubs want Arsenal frontman who’s putting Messi, Mbappe to shame, as Fabrizio Romano hints at Arteta decision

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that two Premier League clubs have expressed interest in a prolific Arsenal forward, and he has revealed when a decision will be made regarding his future.

As soon as Gabriel Jesus suffered a knee injury with Brazil, all eyes were on Arsenal’s response prior to the winter transfer window. Targeting a new forward, Mikel Arteta decided to sign a winger instead of a centre-forward.

Eddie Nketiah’s exceptional play was his justification for not making a front-line addition. Since the World Cup, the 23-year-old has scored six goals in all competitions, including two crucial goals in the 3-2 victory over Manchester United.

Arteta also had the option of recalling Folarin Balogun from his season-long loan with Reims.

Balogun, age 21, is in the best form of his life in France, where he leads the Ligue 1 scoring chart with 14 goals.

Former Gunner Alexandre Lacazette and Kylian Mbappe are tied for second with 13 goals. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi is far behind on 10.

However, Arsenal decided not to interrupt Balogun’s loan period in light of his remarkable progress. Given that it appears Balogun will return to north London in the summer as a vastly improved player, the Gunners stand to gain the most from the transaction.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the striker is likely to attract considerable interest, including from Premier League clubs.

Romano confirmed via Caught Offside that Arsenal never intended to cut the loan short. In addition, he asserted that two Premier League clubs battled Reims for Balogun’s signature prior to the start of the season, and he disclosed that the final decision on his future will be made once the season concludes.

The identities of the two English sides were not disclosed. Given Balogun’s remarkable performance this season, it is reasonable to assume that the pair’s interest has increased.

“Arsenal never thought of Balogun back in January,” said Romano. “They wanted to protect him as Reims loan has been an excellent decision.

“Some Italian clubs wanted Balogun in July and also two Premier League clubs and Borussia Monchengladbach but France was the best option.

“Arsenal will decide his future in May/June, not now”

The Sun recently reported that Reims intend to sign Balogun permanently. Given his incredible physical condition, this should not come as a shock.

However, Football Insider reported that Balogun’s transfer value may have increased to as much as £50 million due to his exploits in France. This number would eliminate Reims from any summer transfer competition.

Arsenal has three options available this summer, and Arteta must carefully weigh his options.

The Spaniard could retain Balogun in his squad, but his development could be stunted if he fails to break into the team.

Alternately, a second loan could be authorized. After multiple loan stints in France, the Gunners found great success with William Saliba, who had previously played for them.

In the final scenario, Arsenal would sell Balogun while his value is at its peak.
