Two key United players unexpectedly missing from travelling squad ahead of Arsenal clash

Manchester United‘s Scott McTominay and Jadon Sancho were notably absent from the squad that traveled to London for their upcoming game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The team aims to continue their winning streak before the international break, hoping for a significant victory against Mikel Arteta’s side. Despite lackluster performances so far, United has an opportunity to make a strong statement by defeating their traditional rivals on their home turf.

There is a possibility that Ten Hag may have to manage without Sancho and McTominay. These two key players did not join the group that boarded the train to London on Saturday afternoon, raising concerns about their availability for selection.

McTominay attracted interest from several clubs before the transfer window closed on Friday, including West Ham, Bayern Munich, and Fulham, but no transfer materialized.

Similarly, Sancho has been sparingly used by Ten Hag this season, primarily as a substitute. Other notable absentees from the 21-man squad include Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly. It appears that these two players are surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and could still leave for leagues with open transfer windows, explaining their absence.

Additionally, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Tyrell Malacia, and Tom Heaton are currently recovering from injuries.

United’s deadline day signings, except for Sofyan Amrabat, made the trip. These signings include Altay Bayindir, Sergio Reguilon, and Jonny Evans. Unfortunately, Amrabat was not registered in time, and fans will have to wait until after the international break to see him in action.
