Two deals edge closer as Lokonga agrees on personal terms with Arsenal.

Arsenal have agreed on personal terms with Anderlecht midfielder Sambi Lokonga as discussions intensify for two further signings.

The London titans are working to finalize a deal for Lokonga, 21, as well as that of Brighton defender Ben White.

An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that Lokonga is the most advanced of the two big-money settlements and he has accepted the club’s deal offer.

Arsenal are negotiating a fee with Anderlecht as they look to utilize their cash problems.

An opening bid of ÂŁ13million was declined but Arsenal hopes add-ons can take the fee to a level fair to the Belgian club.

A deal for White will be considerably more costly and an offer of ÂŁ40m has already been knocked back by Brighton.

But Arsenal have not been put off and are confident they can agree a deal this window, particularly as the England man has made it explicit he is keen to join.

White has been targeted to strengthen the defence, with Lokonga is wanted to strengthen the midfield.

He has been pursued by the Gunners for a long time and is viewed as a player able of making a big impression in the Premier League.

Lokonga did not make the highly competitive Belgium squad for this summer’s Euros, although he is on the stand-by list.

But he has already accumulated considerable experience in the Belgian top division and was promoted to captain of his club last season.

Lokonga already has played 78 times for Anderlecht, predominantly as a defensive midfielder although he can move higher up the pitch.

Arsenal are in the market for midfield reinforcements to substitute Granit Xhaka, who is close to joining Roma, and 2020-21 loanee Dani Ceballos.
