Tuchel reveals his ‘unusual’ shoe celebration witnessed after the Champions League win.
Thomas Tuchel has explained why his trainers counted prominently in celebrations after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the 2021 Champions League final.
The Blues went back to their dressing room on the back of a great European victory to revel in their success away from spying eyes.
When Tuchel joined the company, with champagne bottle in hand, events took a strange turn as his footwear became the center of attention.
Olivier Giroud, Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma were quick to get involved with Tuchel’s trainers when their manager came for the post-match celebrations.
The German’s footwear was drenched in champagne as it swiftly became central to a party that should have been centered on a famous piece of continental silverware

The Blues beat the Premier League champions 1-0 courtesy of a Kai Havertz goal, sparking wild celebrations from the fans.
Tuchel joined in the celebrations in the dressing room, removing his trainers with the likes of Olivier Giroud, Antonio Rudiger, and Kurt Zouma all jostling to have the footwear.
Tuchel has now explained why his shoes were so profoundly involved in the post-match celebrations.
“I had these exact trainers in Paris and I made a promise that we will wear these shoes when we reach the Champions League final,” Tuchel said.
“They were a present from the president at PSG and I promised my staff I would wear them in the final,”
“I did not wear them that day, and we lost [to Bayern Munich]. I made sure I wore them this year and they worked!”
