Tuchel now wants £142m superstar duo out of Chelsea in ‘huge’ overhaul
According to Football Insider, Thomas Tuchel wants Chelsea to transfer Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner this summer.
This season, the front tandem has battled to secure starting positions in the London giants’ fiercely competitive attacking line.
According to a Chelsea source, Tuchel is willing to let Lukaku and Werner go in order to bring in a “world-class” striker.
The Londoners may struggle to find buyers for the high-earning duo, particularly clubs ready to pay anywhere near their outlays.
Chelsea paid a club-record £97 million for Lukaku last summer, a year after paying £45 million for Werner.
Both strikers have long-term contracts at Stamford Bridge.
Lukaku signed a five-year contract with the club after joining from Inter Milan last August.
Werner’s current contract has a little more than three years left on it.
In west London, the duo are lower down the pecking order, with Kai Havertz Tuchel’s favoured option up front.
In 34 games in all competitions, Lukaku has 12 goals and two assists.
However, he has yet to score a Premier League goal this calendar year.
And lately. it has been reported that the Belgium international is “unhappy” at Chelsea and wishes to depart when the transfer window reopens.
According to Football Insider (22 March), Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing the centre-forward.
The Ligue 1 club is preparing for the possible departures of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, who has been linked with a return to Barcelona.
