Tottenham to submit new bid for defender after failing to sign him in January

According to Football Insider, there are reports suggesting that Tottenham  are interested in acquiring Thierry Small from Southampton in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The same report states that Tottenham made an attempt to sign the player during the January transfer window, offering approximately £800,000 for the 18-year-old left-back. However, Southampton turned down the offer at that time.

Now, Tottenham is expected to come back with a revised and improved offer.

In January, Southampton reportedly had a valuation of £1.2 million for Thierry Small, but it is uncertain if Tottenham is willing to meet that price.

Small is regarded as a promising talent in England and is believed to have a bright future ahead of him. Acquiring him could prove to be a valuable long-term investment for Tottenham.

As Tottenham aims to strengthen their defense, signing a talented young left-back like Small could be a prudent choice. Currently, the club’s left-back options consist of Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic.

However, adding more depth to their defensive lineup would provide Tottenham with increased flexibility and competition within the squad.

If Ivan Perisic departs from Tottenham, the club will require a suitable replacement for him. Even if he stays, considering his age in his 30s, Tottenham will need to plan for his eventual replacement.

Thierry Small, being a long-term investment, has the potential to become a crucial player for Tottenham in the future. The reported fee of £1.2 million could turn out to be a significant bargain for the club.

Joining Tottenham would likely be an enticing opportunity for Small. In addition to Tottenham’s interest, other clubs like Rangers and St Mirren have also expressed their desire to sign the young player. It remains to be seen where he ultimately ends up.
