Tottenham reach agreement in a deal to sign highly-rated goalkeeper considered as long-term successor to Hugo Lloris
According to reports, Tottenham has reached an agreement to acquire a talented Turkish goalkeeper on a free transfer in the upcoming summer.
The club faces various uncertainties at the end of the current season, including the status of manager Antonio Conte. Nevertheless, whoever assumes the role is anticipated to receive funds to bolster a squad that lacks significant quality.
Tottenham is believed to require a new goalkeeper, as well as a centre-back and midfielder. However, the priority appears to be finding a replacement for their experienced goalkeeper.
It has been reported that Conte has become frustrated with Tottenham’s current first-choice goalkeeper, Lloris, who is currently sidelined, following several mistakes this season.
Despite his exceptional performance at the Qatar World Cup, Lloris has struggled since returning and suffered a knee injury during the Manchester City match.
Tottenham has been linked to several potential long-term replacements, including Illan Meslier from Leeds and Yassine Bounou from Sevilla.
As per Fotospor, Tottenham has reached an agreement to acquire Altay Bayindir, a 24-year-old goalkeeper from Fenerbahce, on a free transfer. Bayindir, who has represented Turkey five times, will become a free agent at the end of the current season.
According to the report, Bayindir’s arrival at Tottenham could mark the conclusion of Lloris’ ten-year tenure at the club.
Bayindir is regarded as one of the most promising prospects in Turkey and is a regular player for Fenerbahce.
Additionally, he is on track to become the primary goalkeeper for the Turkish national team and is not being considered a backup option at this point.
Some people believe that Lloris could remain with Tottenham for another year, allowing Bayindir to learn from the World Cup winner before taking over as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. In the meantime, Fraser Forster has been filling in as Tottenham’s goalkeeper while Lloris recovers from his injury.
Despite conceding four goals in his first match as Lloris’ replacement against Leicester, Forster has performed well in subsequent games against AC Milan and West Ham.
He is anticipated to start again when Tottenham faces Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday. If Tottenham triumphs over Chelsea, they will move 14 points ahead of Graham Potter’s Brighton and Hove Albion.
