Tottenham manager Antonio Conte may start four outfielders against Sporting due to poor form

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte may start Japhet Tanganga, Bryan Gil, Djed Spence, and Lucas Moura against Sporting Lisbon in an attempt to stop his team’s worrisome form drop.

Spurs were enjoying their best ever start to a Premier League season, but have lost their past two games against Manchester United and Newcastle.

Spurs’ 2-0 victory over Everton earlier this month was their greatest ever start to a Premier League season through ten games.

However, the setbacks against Manchester United and Newcastle United have caused a lack of momentum, and fans are beginning to question Conte’s tactics.

Today’s meeting versus Sporting is crucial to Tottenham’s Champions League run.

If the team wins, they will advance to the knockout round and revenge their 2-0 loss from last month’s reverse fixture.

Given the significance of the match, Conte may make more drastic substitutions in an effort to reverse his team’s recent slump. Consequently, periphery stars like as Moura, Gil, Tanganga, and Spence may receive match action that they have lacked thus far this season.

Given the injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison, Moura and Gil are the two players with the highest likelihood of participating in the match later today, with one spot alongside Harry Kane and Heung-min Son up for grabs.

Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Pierre-Emilie Hojbjerg provide nothing in offensive areas despite Conte’s efforts to fortify his midfield in the absence of the two offensive stars.

As a result, a return to a front three appears likely as the Italian attempts to enhance his team’s equilibrium.

Defensive issues are also prevalent, as the team has conceded simple goals against both Manchester United and Newcastle.

Eric Dier has had a significant decline in performance over the past week, and Clement Lenglet and Ben Davies have also received widespread criticism.

Tanganga may get an opportunity to shine in the back three due to the fact that Cristian Romero has also been dealing with an injury.

In recent weeks, neither Matt Doherty nor Emerson Royal have excelled at right wing-back, which has become somewhat of a concern. There have been numerous requests for Spence to be given an opportunity.

The England under-21 international has yet to make his debut since arriving from Middlesbrough in the summer, but considering the team’s current troubles, Conte may give him a shot against Sporting.
