Tottenham issues a statement after the Sporting CP match was listed as “postponed” on the club’s website
The official Tottenham Hotspur Twitter account issued a statement attributing the UEFA Champions League match versus Sporting CP being listed as “postponed” on the club’s website to a technical fault.
This weekend’s league match between Tottenham and Manchester City at the Etihad has already been postponed due to the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.
Fans are unsure whether Spurs will be able to play even once before the international break, since the club’s next two matches are also in doubt.
Now, the club has announced the Champions League group stage match in Lisbon versus Sporting CP on Tuesday, September 13 would proceed as scheduled. Spurs enter this contest in fine shape.
The technical issue on our website is now fixed. We thank our fans for their patience on this matter.

The league triumph against Fulham was followed by a 2-0 home victory against Marseille with 10 men.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese team defeated Eintracht Frankfurt in their opening group match.
Therefore, a victory over them would place Spurs in the driver’s seat moving forward.
This is a difficult group for them, but they might have faced comparatively “tougher” opponents.
Antonio Conte’s record in UEFA’s premier club competition is not impressive. His finest performance was a quarterfinal finish with Juventus, while Spurs were eliminated in the 2019 UEFA Champions League final.
The game against Sporting being played is good news when we consider Spurs upcoming schedule. A further postponement could have made the future months much more hectic for them.
Next weekend, Spurs face Leicester City at N17, and it has been suggested that the Premier League could move the game from London to the King Power Stadium to prevent another postponement.
