Tancredi Palmeri reported that Fabio Paratici’s suspension for activities during his time with Juventus will also be enforced in England, but a number of other sources contradict this claim.
This comes after Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that Juventus will be docked 15 points as a result of their capital gains trial in Italy, with Paratici facing a 30-month suspension.
The case centered on Juventus and their transfer dealings with various other clubs, with Reuters reporting earlier today that ‘the capital gain from a player transfer goes straight onto a club’s accounts while the cost of a purchase can be spread over the life of a contract, creating room to inflate the balance sheet’
According to RTL, a request has been made to UEFA and FIFA to extend Paratici’s 30-month suspension, which would impact his work at Tottenham as they compete in UEFA competitions.
Francesco Porzio of CBS Sport then clarified that Paratici’s suspension would not apply to England at this time, but confirmed that UEFA and FIFA had requested that the suspension be extended outside of Italy.
It remains to be seen if this extension will be granted and how it will affect the work of the Managing Director of Football in North London in the near future.
According to The Sun, Levy may need to fill a vacancy at the top of Tottenham’s hierarchy, though it is unknown whether the sanction will automatically apply to England.
Having said that, the report continues by stating that “normally, associations accept the disciplinary decisions of fellow governing bodies,” and that “while it is expected that Paratici will appeal the verdict – of the Federal Appeals Court – his future at Tottenham appears bleak.”
If the ban applies to England, Paratici’s position at Spurs will be severely impacted, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Levy terminated his contract. When it rains in Tottenham, it always seems to pour and pour and pour.
