Top 20 most abused sportsperson on the planet as Marcus Rashford ranks second – According to a new study
According to a recent survey, Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is the world’s second most abused athlete.
The 24-year-old is one of England’s most well-known athletes, and he was awarded an MBE for his work against child food poverty late last year.
Rashford is outspoken about social causes, and trolls have mocked him for not ‘focused’ on his game.
He was targeted with racial abuse after missing a penalty in last summer’s Euro 2020 final shootout loss to Italy, as were teammates Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka.
A recent Pickwise investigation examined every tweet made to sports athletes globally and discovered Rashford was harassed 32,328 times in a year.
Only NBA legend LeBron James has received more criticism on social media than Rashford, with a total of 122,568.
Tom Brady, the retired NFL quarterback who returned to the field this weekend, rounds out the top three with 28,151 insults.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Rashford’s United teammate, is the closest footballer to him.
Ronaldo has been charged with 11,757 instances of trolling in the last year, during which he has transferred from Juventus to Manchester United.
The only other footballer in the top ten is Mesut Ozil, and the Fenerbahce star has been insulted 11,192 times.

Rashford attempted to approach a heckler in the aftermath of United’s Champions League exit in midweek.
Rashford was yelled at as he exited Old Trafford following Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid.
He turned back and approached them before being escorted away by stewards.
Rashford apologized on social media for the incident, but denied making an obscene gesture with his hand.
