Toni Kroos rips into Casemiro sale as Real Madrid star exposes true reasons behind Man Utd transfer

Toni Kroos rips into Casemiro sale as Real Madrid star exposes true reasons behind Man Utd transfer

Toni Kroos, Casemiro’s former Real Madrid teammate, has expressed his surprise and sadness at the midfielder’s decision to join Manchester United.

Transfers between  Manchester United  and Real Madrid are not uncommon in modern football. The most high-profile transfers, however, have typically been those from Manchester to Madrid.

Indeed, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo both moved to the Bernabeu after leaving Manchester United.

However, in recent years, it has become more common for players to take the opposite path. Raphael Varane and Casemiro have both left Real Madrid in recent years and walked through the door at Old Trafford.

Since joining the United team, both men have proven their worth. Varane has been one of United’s bright spots this season in particular.

He only missed one league game before suffering an injury. Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United defender, praised him before his injury.

Casemiro, who joined this summer, was eased in with a few substitute appearances. However, he has quickly demonstrated his power at United.

His experience is evident in his passing and defensive abilities. In a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in October, the Brazilian also scored a crucial late equalizer.

Casemiro move a shock

Indeed, Casemiro appears to be enjoying his time at Manchester United. The Brazilian has clearly found his stride in recent games.

However, it appears that the move was not well received by everyone. Indeed, Kroos, the midfielder’s former Real Madrid teammate, has expressed his surprise and sadness at Casemiro’s departure.

“I was surprised by Casemiro’s departure. It is true that the rumours started two days before, but here there are always many rumours and many times nothing happens,” he said on Spanish TV.

“But when he told me I was sad, because I began to remember all the years with him and the things we win together.”

He reveals his true feelings about the move, indicating that it was primarily motivated by financial considerations.

“Television money has been significantly higher in England for years and yet it hasn’t resulted in English teams winning everything. Thank God not all players look only at salary but also at winning.”

Indeed, the midfielders have enjoyed a good period of their careers playing alongside one another.

In the space of eight seasons, they won five Champions League titles, as well as winning La Liga three times. On top of that, Real won a number of other honours.

Move does make plenty of sense

Indeed, it makes sense as to why Kroos was saddened that Casemiro would leave Real for United, who have not won a trophy since 2017.

However, he is in good form, and United are clearly a better side for that.

Real are not doing too badly for themselves without the Brazilian’s influence, either. They are currently top of La Liga, having not lost a game so far.

They also won their Champions League group, scoring 15 goals in six games. As a result, regardless of how it was perceived, it does not appear to be a bad move for either side.
