Tomiyasu, Smith Rowe: Latest Arsenal injury news ahead of Premier League encounter with Liverpool
Arsenal defeated Leicester City 2-0 on Sunday to make it five Premier League wins in a row.
The north Londoners, who are currently fourth in the league standings, were able to secure all three points thanks to goals from Thomas Partey and Alexandre Lacazette.
Now, the Gunners will be hoping to inflict Liverpool their first league defeat of 2022, and Arteta is encouraged by the fact that his side has few injury concerns ahead of tonight’s match against the Reds.
Takehiro Tomiyasu, a Japanese international, appears to be the only member of Arteta’s squad who isn’t totally fit for football.
The latest injury news from the Gunners’ London Colney training base has been published ahead of tonight’s match against the Reds.
Takehiro Tomiyasu
Tomiyasu has been out for a few weeks due to ailments to both of his calves.
What Arteta said: “Tomi is the only one that’s still there in contention [to miss the game],” he told reporters. “We have been trying to push him, but with the handbrake a little bit because we need to be careful as we don’t want to get another injury with him.
“We don’t know [if tomorrow is too soon]. Let’s see how he trains today.”
Expected return date: Unknown.
Emile Smith Rowe
As a result of Covid-19, Smith Rowe was unable to play in the Gunners’ victories over Wolves and Watford. The Hale End academy graduate has recently been in outstanding form, scoring nine Premier League goals this season, more than any other Arsenal player.
Fortunately, he returned to action against Leicester from the bench, and he will be fit to face Jurgen Klopp’s reds this week after coming in as a substitute late in the game.
