Chelsea striker Timo Werner has astonishingly produced one of his poorest records in front of the goal this season. The former Leipzig striker’s poor form was laid bare in the wake of his latest horror miss against Real Madrid.

Werner arrived at Stamford Bridge to great fanfare having established his status as one of Europe’s most exciting strikers at RB Leipzig.

Despite his £53million tag, his move to Stamford Bridge has seen him perform under expectations, with his Leipzig form yet to be replicated.

Although the striker has managed to score 11 goals in all competitions, the number of gilt-edged opportunities he has missed has really caught the eye this season.

His big miss against Real Madrid was far from the first time we’ve seen him fail to take the kind of chance that he used to gobble up for fun in the Bundesliga.

The 25-year-old has missed converting 23 wonderful opportunities since signing for the Blues, with his miss against Madrid taking him one ahead of Liverpool’s Egyptian Mo Salah, although the Red’s talisman has scored a whopping 29 goals this term – 18 more than Werner.

Tottenham captain Harry Kane and Leeds striker Patrick Bamford are joint third on the list after squandering 21 huge chances apiece, but their goal records stand are favorable when compared to the German.

Kane has 31 goals for Spurs, a tally that is almost three times Werner’s total while Bamford has struck 14 times in the Premier League for a side who were only promoted to the top division last year.

Werner’s 15 games without a goal for his club or country came to an end when he scored against West Ham last Saturday, with his goal earning Chelsea an important 1-0 victory in the race for the top four.

But it was the same old story in the second half at the London Stadium, with the former Leipzig hitman missing a one-on-one to put the game to bed.

Here is a video compilation of his astonishing misses.
