Three stats that reveal just how bad Chelsea’s season has got

Graham Potter’s Chelsea suffered yet another loss, this time in a disappointing 1-0 defeat to 20th placed Southampton, who were without a manager at the time.

The victory was even more surprising as Southampton had been on an historically poor run of form prior to the game.

The defeat has led to a number of alarming statistics for Chelsea, such as their continued run of poor form, which is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

The outcome of the match is the first point of concern. Chelsea lost to Southampton at home, which is particularly disappointing given that the same team had already defeated Chelsea in an away match.

This marks the first time since the 1987-1988 season that Southampton has completed the “double” over Chelsea, winning both home and away fixtures in a single season.

It is worth noting that this accomplishment is particularly significant, as the current Southampton team is arguably the weakest team the club has had in that time period.

In addition to the disappointing results, there is also a growing concern regarding Chelsea’s ability to score goals. The team has only scored 23 goals in 23 league games, which is not a particularly impressive record. In fact, Chelsea has failed to score in four of their last five games, leaving them with only three goals in their last nine matches.

The inability to score goals has had a significant impact on Chelsea’s results. The team has only won two games out of their last 15 matches, which is a worrying statistic. Such a poor run of form is typically associated with teams at the bottom of the table, rather than teams with aspirations of qualifying for the Champions League.

The continued poor results, despite having a squad with significant talent, is unacceptable and cannot be attributed to any excuses. It is clear that the team is not performing to their potential and that changes will be necessary in order to turn things around.
