Thomas Tuchel sends message to Anthony Taylor and referee team heading into Chelsea vs Tottenham clash

Thomas Tuchel has sent a quick message to Anthony Taylor and his refereeing team ahead of the weekend’s Premier League London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham.

This message comes at a time when the clash between the two London rivals will be overseen by the hugely unpopular Anthony Taylor among Blues supporters.

Taylor’s unpopularity among Chelsea fans stems from a string of decisions that have cost the west Londoners in various games over the years.

Taylor, for example, officiated Thomas Tuchel’s side in a 1-1 draw at Anfield on matchday two of the league season last season, and he sent off Reece James for handball before halftime.

That was just one instance where Chelsea fans felt cheated by Taylor.

Chelsea fans have already expressed their displeasure with this appointment on social media.

It’s worth noting that Mike Dean will be on VAR this weekend, and Peter Banks will have to deal with both Tuchel and Antonio Conte on the sidelines.

Tuchel has a history of criticizing Premier League refereeing decisions during his time as Blues manager, including last season’s 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge.

Surprisingly, it was a game in which now-new signing Marc Cucurella caught the German’s eye, as the Spanish full-back featured for Graham Potter’s side at the time.

“The ball is going into the net, why does he need to whistle before the ball is over the line? Why? We have VAR to check, why can we not wait? If he decides then it is a foul then decide it but why is he so sure? Does he want to keep the tension up?,” Tuchel questioned in his post-match press conference.

“The penalty is a joke, honestly a joke, not to interfere from VAR.”

When the dust settles, managers’ opinions on refereeing decisions usually pass them by because they have more pressing issues to deal with.

Tuchel has sent a message to all of the officials involved in what is expected to be a heated London derby ahead of this weekend.

He told Soccer AM:“I feel sorry! Sometimes they have to suffer with us coaches and with me.” Taylor himself refereed the game week 1 clash on opening night at Selhurst Park between Crystal Palace and Arsenal.
