Thomas Tuchel identifies the Chelsea player he believes deserves the Ballon d’Or
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has tipped a specific member of his Blues squad to win the Ballon d’Or in 2021.
The most recent round of Ballon d’Or nominees were, of course, announced a little more than 48 hours ago.
Following the cancellation of the awarding of the prize – widely regarded as the most prestigious individual accolade in world football – due to the Covid-19 pandemic last time out, the first ‘Golden Ball’ in almost two years will be served late next month.
France Football’s shortlist included the two most successful players in the award’s history – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – as well as Robert Lewandowski, Neymar, Erling Haaland, and another previous winner – Luka Modric.
Also honoured with inclusions were Barcelona sensation Pedri, Italian Euro 2020 winners Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci, and even Simon Kjaer, owing to his heroic response to Christian Eriksen’s frightening cardiac arrest during the summer:

As things stand, Lionel Messi is the bookmakers’ favorite to win his seventh Ballon d’Or, following Argentina’s long-awaited Copa America victory.
However, among the other front-runners are Robert Lewandowski and Chelsea duo N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.
And, as previously stated, the man in charge of both Blues midfielders on a daily basis has given his support to the latter this weekend.
With Jorginho having had a historic calendar year, winning both the Champions League and the European Championships, Thomas Tuchel believes the Italian is fully ‘deserving’ of having his name added to the Ballon d’Or winner’s list on November 29th:
