Thomas Tuchel could target four Chelsea players after closing on Bayern Munich job
Bayern Munich has announced the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as their new manager following the departure of Julian Nagelsmann.
Tuchel has been without a job since his dismissal from Chelsea at the beginning of the season, despite leading the club to Champions League success just over a year ago.
SportsDias has identified four former Chelsea players who Tuchel may now consider recruiting to the Allianz Arena.
Mason Mount
Mason Mount was in excellent form under Tuchel and played a crucial role in Chelsea’s victories over Porto, Real Madrid, and Manchester City en route to their European triumph. The attacking midfielder provided the assist for Kai Havertz’s winning goal in the final.
Mount’s contract will expire next year, and he has declined to sign a new deal, leading to a standoff with his current club. Therefore, Chelsea may choose to sell the 24-year-old to avoid losing him for free in 2024, providing Tuchel with a chance to pursue him.
Kai Havertz
Tuchel may also consider making a move for Kai Havertz, who played a significant role in helping Tuchel win the Champions League two years ago. The 23-year-old forward was a regular starter under Tuchel and has continued to improve his game this season, scoring nine goals in all competitions.
Havertz has already demonstrated his skills in the Bundesliga, scoring 46 goals and providing 31 assists in 150 games for Bayer Leverkusen. If he were to return to Germany, he would undoubtedly score plenty of goals for Bayern Munich.
Christian Pulisic
Christian Pulisic is another potential target for Tuchel, as he has proven experience in the Bundesliga, having scored 19 goals and provided 26 assists in 127 appearances for Borussia Dortmund before moving to Chelsea. Despite showing glimpses of his talent in England, the 24-year-old has been hampered by injuries.
Given that Chelsea is looking to reduce their wage bill, they may be willing to let Pulisic leave the club, and a move to Bayern Munich could be a possibility if Tuchel wants to reunite with his former player.
Edouard Mendy
It should be noted that the claim that Mendy fell behind Kepa Arrizabalaga when Graham Potter took charge of Chelsea is inaccurate.
Mendy has remained Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper under Thomas Tuchel and has continued to perform well for the club.
