Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has ruled out two key players for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Leicester City.

Overall, the Blues had a very good international break during which their injured players were able to rest and recover.

Timo Werner and Mason Mount, in particular, have returned to the team following hamstring injuries and tooth infections, respectively.

Romelu Lukaku is also close to returning to fitness, according to Tuchel, but will not be ready to face Leicester City alongside Mateo Kovacic.

“I can tell you Mateo and Romelu are still out for the game against Leicester tomorrow,” the German said during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“Romelu is very close to [joining] team training, so hopefully he will join the squad on Sunday.

“Let’s see how this works out. He’s pushing hard and trying hard to be back as soon as possible.

“Mateo will take more days until he is ready to join the training. He will miss some more matches.”

Tuchel also confirmed that Timo Werner returned to training on Thursday, but he insisted on waiting until the end of Friday’s practice before making any team decisions.

“Then we will decide if it makes sense if he [Werner] is in the squad or on the bench,” he added.

Of course, even without Lukaku, Chelsea remain a formidable opponent.

However, the absence of the striker will make Leicester’s task of defeating Chelsea slightly ‘easier.’

Brendan Rodgers’ team is currently in poor form.

The Foxes last won a competitive football game on October 27.

Leicester appears unlikely to challenge for a place in the Premier League’s top four this season.
