Thiago Silva sends message to Frank Lampard following Champions League Victory.

Chelsea center-back Thiago Silva has sent a message of gratitude to former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard after the Blues triumphed the UEFA Champions League for the second time in their history.
Chelsea who fired Lampard towards the end of January and supplanted him with Thomas Tuchel, laid their hands on the Champions League crown for the first time since 2012, beating Manchester City 1-0 at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto, courtesy of Kai Havertz’s strike soon before half time.
Regarded as underlings ahead of kick-off, the Blues were full price for their success, controlling the game pretty much from the first whistle, with goalkeeper Edouard Mendy infrequently tried.
What was even more remarkable about Chelsea’s strength to get the job done and keep yet another clean sheet was the case that Tuchel was forced into squeezing his defensive rearguard in the first half, as Silva was taken off with an injury and succeeded by Andreas Christensen.
But, in the end, it didn’t weigh too much, with Havertz’s hit confirming crucial.
Although Tuchel will be the champion that goes down in Chelsea legends for being the man that led them to an accomplishment many Blues supporters would have only imagined of at the start of the summer, it is necessary to recognize that Lampard led Chelsea strongly out of the group stages at the start of their European campaign.

And for Silva, who was sensibly gutted that he could not play the continuation of the final, he has praised Lampard for his role and his choice to sign him last season, following his exit from Paris Saint-Germain.
“This is special, in what is my first year here,” Silva told RMC Sport. “Tuchel has changed the team mentality, but it is also important to talk about Lampard.
“Without him I would not be here. So, thanks to him for letting me sign here. I’m very happy and I hope he is, too.”
As well as paying acknowledgment to Lampard for his part in bringing him to Stamford Bridge almost a year ago, Silva also highlighted just how big a significance it was in his profession to eventually lay his hands on the Champions League title, after realizing that he desired to win the competition after the first leg of the Blues’ semi-final encounter with Real Madrid in April.
The veteran Brazilian defender added: “This is the most important moment of my career. It’s unforgettable.
“I didn’t manage it with PSG but today I’m happy. I hope PSG do it one day, too. Every time PSG were eliminated, people tried to find a culprit and it was always me. That’s a shame because I really gave everything.
“But I hope they win it because I have left a lot of friends there. I will always stay red and blue.”
