‘They will crumble’: Gabby Agbonlahor predicts who’s getting top four – Spurs, Liverpool or Eddie Howe
Gabriel Agbonlahor discussed the top four race on the All to Play For Podcast, following Liverpool’s impressive victory over Manchester United.
Despite a slow start to the season, Liverpool appears to have found their rhythm, and their recent good form has coincided with a drop in performance from both Tottenham and Newcastle.
Agbonlahor is confident that Liverpool will secure a top-four spot, as he anticipates that Spurs will falter, and he doesn’t believe Newcastle, under the leadership of Eddie Howe, have the necessary qualities to finish in the Champions League places this season.
Agbonlahor gave his verdict on the race for the Champions League.
“I do yes (think they will get top four), the players are coming back. Diaz is coming back, Jota is back as well. Those players have more than enough. Spurs, you know what they’re like when the pressure comes, they will crumble, Newcastle will get top six but not top four at the moment,” Agbonlahor said.
“Liverpool know that if they want to sign a player like Bellingham, the least they have to have is Champions League football, I don’t think he goes to a Europa League side.”
Despite facing considerable challenges, Liverpool may now be considered the favourites to secure a top-four spot.
This is due to Tottenham’s current lack of confidence under manager Antonio Conte and Newcastle’s inability to score goals under Eddie Howe.
Gabriel Agbonlahor did not mention the potential threat that Brighton poses in the top-four race, but given their impressive form, they cannot be underestimated.
However, given Liverpool’s previous experience and success in securing top-four finishes, it is difficult to bet against them securing a spot in the Champions League for next season.
