‘They told me I had no place’: ‘Incredible’ Arsenal star player says there’s absolutely no way he’ll stay at Arsenal now
Lucas Torreira, an Arsenal midfielder, has stated that he has no desire to stay at the club beyond the end of the summer transfer season.
The Uruguayan joined Arsenal from Sampdoria in 2018 for a fee of £26 million (BBC).
He enjoyed a fantastic debut season at the Emirates, receiving praise from fans, analysts, and the media for his performances.
Everyone anticipated Torreira to improve and become a better player in his second season in the Premier League, but Unai Emery’s choice to play him in a more advanced role crushed his confidence.
Torreira never fully recovered, and he was loaned out, first to Atletico Madrid and then to Fiorentina, where he excelled last season.

Torreira appeared to be on his way to Fiorentina on a permanent basis this summer, but the Italian club decided not to exercise their option to sign him.
The Uruguayan was not pleased with the choice, and he expressed his displeasure in a statement a few weeks ago.
Torreira, who is still looking for a new club, was asked if he thought he’d be able to continue at Arsenal for the upcoming season.
That idea was promptly rejected by the Uruguayan.
He said, as quoted by Uruguayan outlet El Pais: “My chances of staying (at Arsenal)? None!
“From the beginning, they told me that I had no place, so my desire is not to stay either, since I suffered a lot, it cost me a lot to adapt.
“Any team that wants me has to buy my file, which today has a value of approximately €15 million (£13m).”
It’s a pity how things have turned out for Torreira.
After his first season at the Emirates, everyone thought the Uruguayan was the genuine deal.
Many saw him as the missing element in Arsenal’s midfield, but Mikel Arteta clearly does not like him.
Torreira is still a great player, and as he demonstrated at Fiorentina last season, he’s more than capable of executing a job consistently in the middle of the park.
It remains to be seen whether clubs will meet Arsenal’s demands to sign him this summer.
