‘They are not happy’: Merson points out three Arsenal players were left shaken by a teammate in Chelsea triumph

According to Sky Sports, Paul Merson saw that some Arsenal players were upset with Aaron Ramsdale for failing to save the Gunners’ first goal against Chelsea on Tuesday.

Mikel Arteta’s team clinched a huge victory in their quest to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

Eddie Nketiah scored twice, and Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka also found the target.

Arsenal took control of the game in the second half. The game, though, was still in the balance at the interval, as they went in tied at 2-2.

Timo Werner cut through from the left to score Chelsea’s first goal. The German attempted a shot from outside the box.

The ball was sent spinning after a deflection from Granit Xhaka. And, eventually, it made its way past Ramsdale.

The goalkeeper was chastised for failing to keep it out. Given that the ball was spinning and his view was partly obstructed by Rob Holding, that was perhaps harsh.

Merson, on the other hand, observed how Ben White, Xhaka, and Holding all responded instantly after the ball beat Ramsdale.

“Have a look at the three players that were in front of the ball, when they turn around to the goalie. They all turn around at the goalie and they are not happy. They can’t believe he hasn’t saved it. And for me, that tells you everything,” he told Sky Sports.

Maybe Ramsdale could have done better. However, he has been exceptional for the majority of the season. So he had plenty of credit in the bank.

And, in the end, Arsenal triumphed. It’s a huge win for Arteta’s team. And they now have some momentum heading into the season’s final stages.
