‘These moments we don’t need’ Klopp ordered Liverpool starlet to stop doing one thing during Man Utd win

‘These moments we don’t need’ Klopp ordered Liverpool starlet to stop doing one thing during Man Utd win

Jurgen Klopp acknowledged that he and his coaching team had to provide crucial guidance to Stefan Bajcetic during his debut in the match against  Manchester United

Although the young player was positioned as a number six, he appeared to become overwhelmed by the significance of the game, prompting the 55-year-old coach to remind him of his positional duties.

“Let me say it like this, I loved the impact of Stefan when he came on but he was a six and he was everywhere, so we had to remind him, ‘By the way, you are six!’,” the German tactician told reporters after the game, as relayed by liverpoolfc.com.

“We had a moment in the first half when Hendo and Fabinho were half-left in the box, I am not sure where Harvey was there but probably not in protection.

“These moments we don’t need. That’s when you lose a bit with the excitement, you lose the overview and these kind of things are really important to be stable.

“That’s what we have to be because we need consistency, we need results and it will not always be like this that we score with all of these situations.

“There will be other games where we don’t score that much and you have to dominate football games, if you can. Today we could and that’s why we had to do it.”

Given that he was only 18 years old, it’s completely reasonable to assume that the pressure of the situation could have affected the holding midfielder. With the likelihood of other players wanting to score more goals against the helpless visitors, the thought may have crossed his mind as well.

Despite the team’s dominant position on the field and the scoreboard, Klopp is correct in emphasizing the importance of maintaining structure and defensive stability.

While it would be exciting to see Liverpool scoring seven goals against opponents every week, the reality is that there are more games like the 2-0 win over Wolves on average, and thus it’s crucial to maintain high standards throughout the season.

Although Bajcetic has been one of the bright spots of the season, Klopp might attribute his momentary lapse to the excitement of the occasion.
