The top five transfer targets for Qatar as part of their strategy to replace the Glazers at Manchester United
Qatar is reportedly considering a takeover of Manchester United with the intention of replacing the Glazers as owners.
The Middle-Eastern state is said to be planning a swift takeover and is prepared to provide significant transfer funds to support coach Erik ten Hag in bringing success back to Old Trafford.
Reports suggest that they should target five key superstars to strengthen the team, despite the club’s improvement this season.
Harry Kane
Manchester United recently acquired Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, but they still need a star striker for next season.
Harry Kane, the Tottenham striker, would be a great acquisition for the Red Devils. With 200 Premier League goals to his name, he is one of the best in the league and has only been surpassed by Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney.
Kane is open to leaving Tottenham due to their lack of success, and if Qatar completes a takeover of Manchester United, they would have no issue paying the required transfer fee to sign him.
Victor Osimhen
The challenge in signing Harry Kane would be Tottenham’s refusal to sell to a Premier League rival.
Tottenham have not sold any players to United since Dimitar Berbatov’s transfer in 2008. As an alternative, United may target Victor Osimhen of Napoli as a solution.
Osimhen, a Nigeria international, has been performing well for Napoli this season with 16 goals and 3 assists in 17 Serie A matches.
While Napoli would ask for a large transfer fee, United would have the financial capability to negotiate a deal.
Kylian Mbappe
It is widely believed that when Kylian Mbappe leaves Paris Saint-Germain, he will join Real Madrid.
However, Manchester United have been monitoring Mbappe secretly for some time. PSG may not want to sell Mbappe directly to Real Madrid due to the strained relationship between the two clubs. United could take advantage of this opportunity, as they are in need of a top-notch striker.
Mbappe has previously expressed interest in joining Liverpool, but United are currently better positioned to win major prizes compared to their rivals.
Frenkie de Jong
When Erik ten Hag took over at Manchester United, he had an interest in signing Frenkie de Jong, who he had previously managed at Ajax and helped reach the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
However, United signed Casemiro instead as De Jong was unwilling to leave Barcelona due to owed deferred wages. United are now considering rekindling their interest in De Jong and, due to their strong performance this season, they are optimistic about securing his signature.
It is unclear if De Jong’s stance on a move to Old Trafford has changed, but a substantial cash injection from a potential takeover by Qatar would boost their chances of signing him.
Jude Bellingham
It was previously thought that when Jude Bellingham leaves Borussia Dortmund, he would not join Manchester United. However, if there is a Qatari takeover of United and the club continues to improve, this could change.
United have been keeping an eye on Bellingham for some time and even showed him around their training facilities and introduced him to club legends such as Sir Alex Ferguson and Bryan Robson.
Manchester City, Liverpool, and Real Madrid are also interested in the Borussia Dortmund star, but United could emerge as a surprising contender if Bellingham arrives at the club.
