The Premier League forced to correct multiple errors in their charges against Man City
The Premier League had to make corrections to multiple errors in their announcement of the charges against Manchester City.
In their initial statement on Monday, the Premier League listed over 100 alleged rule breaches by City.
However, on Wednesday, six of these were corrected.
The original charges claimed that City had violated rules E.3, E.4, E.11, and E.12 in the 2011-12 season.
However, these rules pertained to minor regulations such as Premier League games not on television being played on Saturdays, or that games must be played on New Year’s Day unless it falls on a Sunday, and that all clubs must participate in the FA Cup.
After the initial statement, the Premier League corrected their mistake and changed the charges against City to breaching rules C.78, C.79, C.86, and C.87, which were related to the club’s financial accounts.
The mistake was that these rules were not in Section E until later seasons. Another error was corrected for the 2021-22 season, where breaches of W.15 and W.16 were changed to W.12 and W.13.
