“The best owner ever” Chelsea fans thank Roman Abramovich after sale of club gets confirmed
Chelsea has found new owners, led by Todd Boehly, as current owner Roman Abramovich leaves the club after a 19-year reign.
Blues fans greeted the new owners and thanked Abramovich for his contribution after the news broke on Friday, May 6.
The Russian has won 21 major titles since taking over the club in 2003, including the FIFA Club World Cup in February.
He has put a lot of money into the club, bringing in world-class players and managers to help Chelsea succeed.
The UK government, however, imposed restrictions on the businessman following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in March. As a result, the club’s sale was unavoidable.
The Stamford Bridge supporters were disappointed to see Abramovich leave and took to Twitter to thank him for everything he has done for the club.
Some of their reactions are as follows:

The best owner ever in the history of football clubs, Thank you Roman. 💙
Up the Chels! #Abramovich
To make the transaction more viable, Abramovich waived a £1.6 billion loan owing to him by the club. It’s the end of one of the most successful owner-club relationships in history.
Chelsea will be taken forward by a consortium led by Todd Boehly.
Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter, and Hansjoerg Wyss are all shareholders in the Todd Boehly-led consortium.
Chelsea’s official website reported that the sale was worth roughly £4.25 billion.
The funds will be split into two categories: £2.5 billion and £1.75 billion. The former will be used to purchase the club’s stock, which will then be donated to charity.
As chosen by the former owner, Abramovich, the funds would be used for charitable purposes.
The £1.75 billion will be used to invest in the club, Stamford Bridge, the Chelsea Women’s team, the Chelsea Academy, and the Chelsea Foundation.
It’s a watershed moment for the club, as they’re about to undergo a big transformation. They have been impeded for weeks by the UK government’s sanctions.
They were unable to sign new players or renew existing ones’ contracts. They were prohibited from generating any revenue, whether through ticket or other sales.
That may have influenced their on-field performances, as they have struggled in recent games. They may now be able to concentrate on driving the club forward with newfound vigour.
The Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team and the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team are both owned by Boehly.
. Blues fans will be hoping that his sports background would help him take the team to new heights.
