The 4 Tottenham Hotspur players missing for the Liverpool clash – including two key stars
This weekend, Liverpool has a chance to put pressure on Manchester City in the Premier League title chase.
After reaching the Champions League final for the third time in three seasons, the Reds will be in high spirits. In the last four, they defeated Villarreal 5-2 on aggregate.
The possibility of an unprecedented quadruple is still very much alive.
Meanwhile, City must recover from its heartbreaking European Cup semi-final defeat to Real Madrid.
Real had been on course to meet Liverpool in Paris after leading 5-3 on aggregate at the Santiago Bernabeu, but two goals in as many stoppage-time minutes forced the tie into extra-time.
Then Karim Benzema calmly converted a penalty to keep Pep Guardiola’s side’s Champions League hopes alive.
City cannot afford any hangovers, with the Premier League being the only trophy they can win this season.
Liverpool, on the other hand, may be two points clear at the top when they meet West Ham on Sunday.
The Reds are hosting Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Saturday evening (19.45).
Once again, Liverpool has the benefit of fielding a completely fit roster against Antonio Conte’s men.
Roberto Firmino has returned to training and is expected to start on the bench.
Tottenham, on the other hand, is struggling to finish in the Champions League places, with four confirmed absentees.
Sergio Reguilon is unlikely to return to Spurs this season.
The defender has not trained due to a groin injury.
Conte told reporters: “He is not available. He hasn’t had a training session with us.
“I honestly don’t know, there is only two weeks whether it is possible for him to come back.”
Following Conte’s arrival in June, Matt Doherty developed into a significant contributor.
Last month, however, the former Wolves fullback suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Japhet Tanganga had a similar problem the month before and had surgery. He won’t be available until the next season.
Oliver Skipp won’t either. The midfielder has also undergone surgery to address a groyne problem.
As a result, Tottenham will only be allowed to select 15 senior players for the trip to Anfield.
