Ten Hag tells Man Utd star to ‘find new club’ as ‘cruel eight-player clear-out begins’

According to reports, Erik ten Hag has initiated a ruthless clear-out of eight players at Man Utd ahead of the summer, and has already advised one player to look for a new club.

Ten Hag has made a significant impact since taking over from Ralf Rangnick this season, having won the Carabao Cup and still being in contention for both the Europa League and FA Cup.

Despite having to deal with Cristiano Ronaldo’s difficult behavior earlier this season, Ten Hag has managed to extract more from the current squad than the previous regime, but significant changes are still anticipated, with up to eight players expected to depart. This information has been provided by Football Insider.

According to reports, Erik ten Hag has begun the clear-out by informing defender Axel Tuanzebe that he can search for a new club, as his contract is set to expire in June. Tuanzebe has not been able to cement his position at Manchester United  and is presently on loan at Stoke City in the Championship.

The article suggests that the clear-out will continue, with Anthony Martial, Donny Van de Beek, Scott McTominay, Dean Henderson, Brandon Williams, and Harry Maguire being put up for sale.

Additionally, the report states that David De Gea’s contract is also set to expire soon, and there has been no confirmation of an extension yet. However, the goalkeeper has expressed his contentment at Man Utd, saying that he is “really happy” at the club.

“I’ve been here many, many years, enjoying every moment in this club playing many games,” De Gea told Sky Sports.

“Of course, it’s great to be here, it’s a massive club and I love the club and I’m really happy here, of course.

“It’s been the same over the years, there’s a lot of noise around the club but players just focus on games, especially the one we have on Sunday – a massive game for us because we want to finish in the top four.

“Like I say, we have many, many games so I think we have to be really, really caring on training, recovering well, helping the team and that’s the most important thing, more than contracts or anything.”

Furthermore, the article mentions that loanee Wout Weghorst is not expected to join Man Utd permanently, despite scoring two goals in 18 appearances.

The report also notes that Ronaldo’s exit has freed up transfer funds, with the club now prioritizing the signing of a marquee striker.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos are among the names thought to be on the shortlist for this position.
