Ten Hag is on the brink of a catastrophic transfer disaster with Manchester United eying an “awful” £175k-per-week dud
Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot during the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb (via TEAMtalk), United have showed interest in sealing a deal for the midfielder after supposedly being offered the opportunity to sign him.
While the Red Devils will undoubtedly require at least one new midfielder with the recent losses of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata, we believe that the club and Erik ten Hag should not be contemplating Rabiot as a prospective recruit.
After 227 senior games for Paris Saint-Germain, where he scored 24 goals and provided 14 assists, the 27-year-old joined Juventus on a free transfer.
However, in 129 games since then, the Frenchman has only scored six goals and provided six assists.
His most recent Serie A campaign with Juventus exemplifies why United should resist signing the former PSG starlet.
Rabiot had a passing accuracy percentage of 82.7 percent in 32 league games this season, which was lower than many of his current Bianconeri teammates.
Furthermore, the £175k-per-week midfielder failed to have much of an attacking influence on the club, with only seven shots on target and 39 shot-creating actions throughout the season.
Another crucial consideration is his off-field behaviour, as he departed his last club on sour terms after Antero Henrique chastised him for going to a nightclub shortly after PSG were knocked out of the Champions League by United in March 2019.
Henrique said: “I find the attitude and lack of professionalism of a player like Adrien Rabiot towards the club, his teammates and the supporters unacceptable.”
Taking all of this into consideration, while it appears like United need to buy some midfielders this summer, the Juventus misfit should not be on their radar, or else Ten Hag might face a major transfer crisis at Old Trafford.
Instead, the Red Devils should be looking for other, more solid midfield options who can assist get the club back on track.
