Ten Hag has four blows ahead of crunch Arsenal clash

Ten Hag has four blows ahead of crunch Arsenal clash

Erik ten Hag is preparing for Manchester United’s blockbuster matchup against Arsenal. The Red Devils will enter the match hoping to defeat Mikel Arteta’s squad and improve their chances of winning their first Premier League title since 2013.

However, SportsDias will now examine four blows the Dutchman had to undergo prior to the match at the Emirates Stadium.

Winning run halted

Manchester United had won each and every game since the World Cup in Qatar until just recently.

Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park ended Manchester United’s winning streak.

Throughout the majority of the game, it appeared that the goal scored by Bruno Fernandes would be enough to give United all three points.

Michael Olise’s sensational late free kick beat David De Gea and brought Ten Hag’s team back into contention.

As a result, United have lost some of their momentum. Had they defeated Palace and Arsenal, they would have trailed the Gunners by only three points.

Casemiro suspension

Since joining United from Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, Casemiro has been an invaluable asset.

After receiving his fifth yellow card of the season against Arsenal, the Brazil international will miss the match against Arsenal.

This is a devastating loss for United, especially given that no other player can consistently perform Casemiro’s role.

In the wake of Casemiro’s suspension, it is possible that Lisandro Martinez will serve as the team’s anchorman, as he previously did for Ajax.

Additionally, Scott McTominay and Fred are options.

Martial a doubt

Speaking at his Friday press conference, Ten Hag revealed that Anthony Martial was questionable for the match, having missed the Palace match earlier in the week.

And this is certainly frightening the Red Devils as they attempt to prevent Arsenal from running amok.

Despite suffering from injuries, Martial has performed admirably for United this season, scoring a respectable five goals across all competitions.

Although Wout Weghorst is a member of the Red Devils, the Dutch international is more of a static figure up top.

Martial’s absence from training increases the likelihood that he will miss the match at the Emirates.

Sancho yet to return

United supporters were ecstatic to see Jadon Sancho return to training midweek, having not seen him play since the 1-1 draw against Chelsea in October.

However, Ten Hag has indicated that the 22-year-old is unlikely to face Arsenal.

“I can’t answer that question. He is making the next step and because it is true, yesterday was the first time in the team training,” he said.

“But I think training was a final training before a game, so we will extend that in the coming days and weeks and then go step by step.”

United will be short one attacker as they prepare for the season’s greatest challenge to date with Sancho’s probable absence from the match.
