Tammy Abraham hints at a return to the Premier League as he proclaims to be a ‘London boy’ that wants to ‘make noise’
Tammy Abraham, a former Chelsea forward, has hinted at a future return to the Premier League, saying he wants to’make noise’ in the English top flight once more.
After failing to solidify his spot in Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI, Abraham joined Roma, overseen by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, on a five-year deal worth £34 million in August 2021.
However, after professing to be a ‘London kid,’ the 24-year-old could return to the English top division in the future.
Nonetheless, Abraham has stated that his primary priority is to win a trophy in Roma.
Talking to talkSPORT, Abraham said: “For me I’ve always been a player growing up, watching the Premier League and watching football.
“When I heard about different teams and certain players I always thought: Wow I want that to be me one day.
“I’m sitting in bed one day on Instagram that Tammy’s been linked with so and so and as a player it makes you feel good.
“As a player it makes you feel like you’re doing something right. For me it’s a nice feeling to be linked. To see your name all over the newspapers etc.
“But for me it’s just doing my business here. Focusing on what I am doing here so I can keep getting linked with all the clubs.”
Abraham, who joined Chelsea at the age of seven, scored 30 goals in 82 games for the first team and was the best scorer in his two full seasons in the academy.
However, he struggled to break into the starting lineup following the £97.5 million return of centre forward Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge.
As a result, the 24-year-old attacker chose to quit the club in order to play regular first-team football.
He joined Roma, but Chelsea put a buy-back clause in the agreement, allowing them to re-sign Abraham for £68 million starting in June.
Abraham intimated that a return to Chelsea might be in the works. “It’s all over the place at the moment. Who knows what the future holds.
“Of course I grew up in England and I’m a London boy so maybe one day I will be back in the Premier League to make noise there.
“But, for me right now, it’s about focusing in Rome. It’s about focusing on doing the best I can and hopefully I can win these guys a trophy, which they haven’t won in many years.”
Roma are unwilling to let Abraham leave and are expected to slap a £100 million price tag on his head if other clubs come knocking.
Manchester United and Manchester City are both looking for a center forward this summer, with Pep Guardiola’s side prioritizing a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Clubs from competing European leagues are also rumored to be interested in Abraham.
