Takehiro Tomiyasu picks one Arsenal teammate he would hate to face and it’s not Bukayo Saka
Takehiro Tomiyasu, a star for Arsenal, has admitted that he would detest facing teammate Gabriel Martinelli on the opposing side.
It follows the Brazilian’s breakout season thus far, during which he has begun to add end product to his already formidable skill set.
This season, the 21-year-old has contributed to nine goals in 19 Premier League appearances from the left wing position, which he has dominated.
Martinelli has agreed to a new contract that will extend his stay until 2027.
“What he deserves is clear, his hunger, his determination, his love for this game and you don’t know where he is going to reach,” Mikel Arteta said earlier this season in praise of the forward’s performances. “He’s always asking and willing for more.”
A call-up to the Brazil national team in a highly competitive World Cup squad has demonstrated his progression, and he will continue to improve.
Martinelli was also identified as the opponent Tomiyasu would most hate, having faced him numerous times in training.
When asked by GOAL about which player is the toughest to face in training, he said:
“Gabriel Martinelli, he never stops. He has pace, aggression. He’s still young, but when he has the ball he wants to make the difference, he wants to do something.”
It remains to be seen exactly how far the winger can go in his career, as his zenith is still many years away.
If he continues on his current trajectory, however, his recent contributions indicate that he could be a major contributor for both club and country.
