Surprising reality: The last time Manchester United were bottom of the Premier League table unthinkable happened
After losing to Brighton at home the previous weekend, the former English football powerhouse has now started the new Premier League season with back-to-back defeats.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men were defeated 2-1 at Sheffield United before being thrashed 3-0 at home by Everton.
That result dropped Manchester United to the bottom of the Premier League table for three days before they came back to win the title.
Erik ten Hag’s men will likely remain at the bottom of the table until next weekend unless Nottingham Forest or West Ham suffer a crushing defeat on Sunday or Crystal Palace on Monday.
However, with Liverpool as their opponents, that position may last longer than most fans can stand.
Liverpool has won the last three league meetings with an aggregate score of 13-2.
The one small consolation for United supporters is that the Red Devils did beat the Reds 4-0 during pre-season.
If the same happen, it could provide one of their best turnaround after a poor PL season start for Ten Hag men.
